All Star Weekend

How is your February going? Hopefully you're enjoying this wonderful month highlighted by love. Love for Black History, love for each other due to Valentine's Day or just the fact that it felt like January punched us in the mouth and we could all use a hug....and last but not least, love for basketball where we celebrate the elite with All-Star Weekend. A star studded weekend filled with events, challenges, competitions, games and our favorite....SHOES!!!! Lots and lots and lots of gorgeous (and some ugly) shoes, from themes to designers to collaborations to P.Es (player exclusive) there is something for everyone around this time. Assuming of course you are able to get your hands on the shoes, which is a test for most within itself. Adding the hype of All-Star Weekend and rarity to the equation subtracts acquisition and happiness for many. This year the All-Star Weekend will be held in Chicago, Illinois... home to none other than his "Airnesss" Michael Jordan so you already know it is going to get real with this years releases.

With the festivities being held in Chicago, Jordan Brand of course had to do something special. They decided to do a line collaborating with designers from Chicago to showcase the talent of the city therein. The lineup includes four Jordan silhouettes reworked by the designers.

First up is the Air Jordan 10 WIngs, a concept by Wings Design Program. A program that connects high school students with introductory educational programming geared towards the footwear and apparel industries. Four of those students from participating Chicago organizations -- Embarc, Enlace, Link Limited and Little Black Pearl -- lent their unique skills and perspective to the help rework the retro.

Releasing 02/12/20

Next is the Air Jordan 1 Mid designed by Sheila Rashid, Chicago's Queen of Denim. Sheila made her mark through customized, unisex designs for celebrities like Bella Hadid. Now Sheila brings her talents to the sneaker culture.

Releasing 02/14/20

Following is the Air Jordan 5 designed by Virgil Abloh. Showcasing his signature Off-White deconstructed approach. He chose the Black Metallic colorway as his base.

Releasing 02/15/20

Last in the collaborative lineup is Jordan Aerospace 720, Lyrical Lemonade founder and music video director Cole Bennett brings his famed eye to the collection while showcasing his multimedia brand's signature hues.

Releasing 02/16/20

As if that wasn't enough, the Jordan Brand also has a signature All-Star lineup dropping to celebrate the weekend. Starting with the Air Jordan 1 '85, a different take on the bred (Black and Red) colorway limited to 23,000 pair worldwide. Shoe includes a numbered dust-bag with purchase.

Releasing 02/08/20

Then the Jordan Brand goes and puts a pack together named "New Beginnings" with the Nike Air Ship P.E from '84 and a Nike Air Jordan 1 Hi '85 ONLY available in Chicago and retailing for $350.

Next to drop is something for the ladies, Women's Air Jordan 1 NC to CHI (North Carolina to Chicago). Showing love to both Michael Jordan's college and NBA team the colorway is similar to the Fearless Air Jordan 1 OG, but with black being the overall color instead of white.

Releasing 02/13/20

Following is the Air Jordan 3 Unite, an all fire red rendition of the silhouette but being released with a twist. There will be a special release for the city of Chicago where the back panel will read "CHI" instead of "AIR". Of course the "AIR" version will be available worldwide.

Releasing 02/15/20

Last in the Jordan Brand signature lineup is Russell Westbrook's "Why Not?" Zero.3 "LA Born". Paying homage to Russell's hometown of Los Angeles.

Releasing 02/16/20

So what? We are at 9 releases already? Wow!! Well, lets not stop there, you already know Nike is coming with their own All-Star lineup to represent. Giving you old school vibes with a re-release of the LeBron 7 "All-Star" colorway from his 2010 Eastern All-Star appearance.

Releasing 02/12/20

Then Nike goes colorful with the release of LeBron 17 "Monstars". A shoe that gives a nod to the movie Space Jam 2, starring LeBron James. Nike will also release a PG 4 x Gatorade ASW collaboration.

Releasing 02/13/20

Only to turn around and hit you with another two piece by way of Nike Kyrie 6 "Trophies" offering a tribute to Michael Jordan's 1996 championship run. Along with the Zoom Freak 1 "Employee of the Month" another installment in the "Coming to America" themed signature shoe for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Releasing 02/14/20

As we slow down somewhat lol, Nike gives you Chicago native and designer Don C's take on the KD12.

Releasing 02/15/20

Last but definitely not least, Nike gives us some technology with Nike Adapt BB 2.0 OG. A shoe that not only laces itself, but is blue-tooth capable. I could not tell you why, because I'm not spending $400.

Releasing 02/16/20

But wait, Nike is not even done!! They decided to do another collaboration with Don C in the way of the Air Force One High hybrid only available to American Express Card Members.

Releasing 02/13/20

They also chose to drop the Fear of God 1 in triple black!!! Shoe created by designer Jerry Lorenzo who is also the founder of FOG (Fear of God).

Releasing 02/14/20

Just hitting you with ALL the releases and ALL the collaborations in such a short period of time. Not to mention that this is only over the course of a week, we are not even talking about the full month smh

Oh and honorable mention to adidas dropping the Yeezy 700 V3 "Alvah", releasing 02/15/20

....and to Reebok for their BBC x Answer V collaboration releasing 02/16/20.

There will be no shortage of releases during All-Star Weekend, especially since the releases precede actual All-Star Weekend. Hopefully everyone will be able to score and join in on the fun and excitement, at least in some form since everyone is not able to actually attend the festivities. I am believing for fast WiFi and quick trigger thumbs for everybody reading this blog. May you be an All-Star this weekend in your attempts to cop.

As always cop heavy, keep em clean and the soles icy.
